			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Twitter is about the hottest thing in social media these days. As a result a lot of people come to me and say, “I want to be on Twitter!”  To which I always respond, “Why?”</p>
<p>Before doing anything in the arena of web content and social media, it’s important to understand the purpose and goals. Whether it’s starting a blog, creating a company page on Facebook, or jumping on Twitter, just doing it because it’s hot right now is not a compelling reason to do it. </p>
<p>Twitter can be an excellent way to reach people, share vital information or establish expertise. It can also be a real waste of time. It all depends on what you’re trying to accomplish I love Twitter and enjoy getting people and companies started on it. But before the tweets start to fly, let’s lay out a strategy and goals so we can monitor, modify and measure success.</p>
